The solar and wind energy unit of the Centre is tasked with carrying out research, development and demonstration of pilot projects, highlighting the potentials and sustainability of solar and wind energy technologies.
The specific functions of the unit takes its root from the Centre’s mandate and are as follows:
- Establish performance characteristics of solar/wind pilot projects.
- To research indigenous materials for solar and wind energy technology applications. These options can be cost effective as well as provide improved technical performance.
- Carry out research and development activities to improve on existing solar and wind energy technologies.
